The Center for African American History, Art & Culture (CAAHAC) and the City of Aiken host the annual Juneteenth celebration at CAAHAC and Founders Park, located at 120 York Street, NE, Aiken, SC 29801.

Juneteenth is a significant day in American history, marking the end of slavery. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of slavery, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a time to reflect on the struggles of African Americans for freedom and equality and celebrate their resilience and achievements.

Exciting youth activities await at the Center, including tile painting, bingo, and various Juneteenth-themed crafts.

The Center for African American History, Art & Culture is also a not-for-profit IRS 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to be an educational resource supporting both Aiken’s diversity and sense of community.
