Iron Jawed Angels is the true story of the 1917 women’s fight for the right to vote and run for public office. Despite protesting peacefully, women of this period sacrificed their health, marriage, and freedom to secure these rights for future generations. Some were arrested for picketing and waging hunger strikes. The movement led to the ratification in 1920 of the 19th Amendment. An HBO production with a contemporary style, the film stars Hillary Swank and Anjelica Huston.
